1.8 Second child's the charm?

Happy New Year…! Sorry it took us so long to text you again, but life has been crazy. Having a toddler in the house is much more demanding than I thought! There is just so much to do to keep him happy, and when he is asleep, one of us takes care of the house, so that the other one can relax a bit. The “one of us” usually is me, by the way.

I am also the one to take care of Brian most of the time, since Dustin currently has either been busy at work or busy in front of the TV. Brian misses his daddy, too, since he rarely gets to see him anymore, and acts a little cheeky every now and then – like throwing his food off his chair when he is done. Surely little children do this every now and then, and it’s nothing personal that is meant to offend me, but it sometimes hurts deep down inside.

I really don’t get Dustin anymore – one day he is so distant and the next, right after we got out of bed, he pulls me to the bathroom, smiling. We spend some amazing hours together, but then that’s it for a couple of days.

In between it always feels like we are living completely separate lives. I paint a lot, to express my feelings and thoughts, while he does stuff inside the house – far away from me, since our boss here was smart enough to put the easel outside.
HEY! The house was packed. It’s not my fault that you got pregnant after a few days and didn’t bring in more money from work, which we could have invested in an extension to the house. Besides, you don’t have to paint in the middle of winter…

There are so many other things that have to get done, like potty-training Brian and teaching him how to walk and speak. And since I can’t make Dustin do it, it’s up to you. But since you love your son, this shouldn’t be a problem, right?
Yuck! This is so gross!

May I just say that this family is crazy? Thanks. THIS FAMILY IS CRAZY. Kate paints outside in the snow, and Dustin chooses a snow-covered chair to read his book on. At least he put on gloves, although I am not sure how well you can read with those on…

In the meantime, Kate has finished potty-training Brian. Congratulations, that is awesome!
You didn’t leave me a choice – you had me potty-training him six times in a row!
Well, I like to finish what I/you started…

After cleaning the toddler toilet, I felt like having some fun. Dustin had already gone to bed, so I sneaked outside and built a beautiful snowman the size of me. Isn’t he sweet? You can’t do that, can you?
Well, I tried, but mine is not as pretty as yours. It’s also smaller.
I want proof!

Here. It’s way smaller, and I had neither a scarf nor branches. Nor a hat.
Hahahahaha, it stinks! Mine is sooo much cooler than yours!
Shut up :(

In the meantime, Brian had to occupy himself. Poor him… he probably would have liked to help his mommy with the snowman! Although I am not sure how well he could have walked in the snow, considering that the snow probably would be up to his nose…

Dustin! Are you… are you… are you eating fresh food? I can’t believe it. What happened?
I just felt like it… jeez, don’t make such a big thing out of it! Look, I even went outside to eat, so that you still consider me a bit weird.
Thanks, I feel better now.

Kate didn’t really feel better after she went to bed. Soon enough she woke up from a strong pain in her stomach – the second baby was announcing itself!

It shouldn’t really be surprising me that she changed into something less comfortable to give birth, but it did. I don’t think I will ever understand my sims.
Could you be quiet? I’m trying to give birth here! Ouuuuuch, it hurts!

When Dustin came in to see what all the fuss was about, he got even more nervous than Kate was. Since he missed the birth of his first son with Kate, this was something completely new for him. Apparently, he hadn’t been there when his first two kids were born, either.

And it’s another BOY! Congratulations to both of you!
This is unbelievable – I had been thinking about names for our child, but in my imagination it had been a girl this time… what do we do? What do we do? WHAT do we do????!!
Hey, relax! It’s going to be fine. I thought about it as well and came up with a nice solution. Besides, one of your readers had the same idea *waves to Susan*
What? Whatwhatwhatwhat?
Could you RELAX for a minute?! If you go on like this, I won’t tell you, but just type the name into the box popping up.

Whatever. I’m going to make some dinner. The stale waffles for Dustin are already finished, now I need something for me. You may or may not tell me what name you thought of.
Seriously? You don’t care anymore? I don’t believe that.
No, I was trying to be calm, damn it! Tell me, tell me, tell me!!!
Fine. I named him Alf. :) Like in "reality", he is a heavy sleeper. And slightly eccentric, too.
Alf…. I like that.

Considering the amounts of snow outside and her being a mother to two, Kate decided after dinner that she needed a new outfit. Something that looked (and was) warm and grown-up. Not to forget that it had to match her hair. I think this is a pretty good result, don’t you think?

It seems like Dustin liked it a lot, too – he immediately rolled a wish to… you know.

After that, both of them tried to win the contest “Look how much I care about our baby”. Guys, there is another child, desperately asking for your attention! Pink hair, male, named Brian… ring a bell?
No idea what you’re talking about.
Sigh.

At least Dustin knew what I was talking about this time! He brought his starving son into the dining room and gave him some stuff to eat. I doubt that it’s healthy, but whatever. As long as he gets something to eat, I am happy. And Brian is, too. Maybe this family really is going to work. We’ll see!

Author's notes: Sorry!! As I mentioned before, life was crazy in the last weeks, and it's not going to be better soon. My 30-pages-dissertation needs to be written within the next ten days and I have a lot of other stuff going on. So this is to proof that I'm still here, even though I am not publishing much, or commenting much on your stories. So sorry about that! As soon as the dissertation is done, I will get right on that, I promise. These next two weeks are just going to be a nightmare without any free time.
